The former house of the Bulgarian sculptor Andrey Nikolov in Sofia now hosts a centre for culture and debate: The Red House.
This is a place that attracts contemporary audiences with cultural and socio-political programmes while at the same time introducing the public to the art of two great Bulgarian artists from the beginning of the 20th century – the architect Ivan Vassiliov and the sculptor Andrey Nikolov.
In order to address a variety of subjects, three programmes have been formulated:
- political and social
- arts and culture
- social and educational
Through training, lectures, presentations, and art exhibitions the public is being informed, involved and activated.
Exhibition ‘Spirit leaves the Body’
The Red House centre also takes part in the Bulgarian Network of Civil Dialogue. This network aims at improving the realisation of public debate and discussion, to improve the dialogue between citizens, their representatives and institutions.
