There is no place in Amsterdam like Pakhuis de Zwijger, an independent and non-profit cultural warehouse that is all about sparking inspiring discussions, connections, creativity, bottom up initiatives and innovation.
In a time where existing institutions and workable methods get stuck, Pakhuis de Zwijger shows energy and takes the initiative to bring bottom-up changes. The city of the future is not being designed on a drawing board, but originates from the strength of people and communities. Questions such as livability, sustainability and innovation find their answer in local and small solutions. While small becomes the new big, sharing knowledge and experience with others in the world are becoming more important. New relationships and roles between civilians, government and business in the public domain are needed to make that happen. ‘Nieuw Amsterdam’ brings all these parties together and helps during the quest.
PDZ invites live speakers and hosts 350+ events per year devoted to creative industries and urban city development. The magic does not only happen on stage; the discussions and unexpected connections that follow are key.
Since PDZ opened its doors in September 2006, it has grown a big community that tunes in on a regular basis for network meetings, lectures, discussions and workshops that are linked to creation and innovation.
