Makespace Madrid is a place dedicated to digital creation.
Thanks to a well equipped workshop, the space is open to a community of more than 60 innovators, from novice to experienced. Located near the Atocha train station, the place lets the members of the community fulfil their imagination through activities such as 3D printing, electronic and software programming. It’s irregularly open every week, but usually on Tuesday evenings.
Launched in 2013 by a small group of ardent electronics lovers, what drives this place are the values of open knowledge. All the members of the directing team are volunteers and the purpose of their project is to share their knowledge, create objects and invite others to join them. All of this happening in a learning and friendly atmosphere.
The idea of creating such a place came from Makespace Cambridge situated in the heart of the famous university and which inspired many people across the world to launch their own shared workshop. The community of Makespace regularly participates in Maker Fairs and visits other similar initiatives across the world in order to enrich its inspiration and knowledge.
The community is very active on their Meetup page where you will find events frequently organized such as a Hackathon on the 26th of September 2014 during which more than 20 people competed in teams in front of a jury to create the best web or mobile application by the end of the day.
