Largo Residências is a social enterprise, a boutique hostel, café and cultural platform for the neighbourhood of Mouraria and Intendente. The former tile factory today is a space in which artists and tourists live together in a process of constant creation. It is an enabling space, deeply connected to the community, where artwork can mature and sparks can happen.
The mission is to promote culture, creativity and knowledge as driving forces of urban society. Largo Residências uses the income generated from tourism for the cultural activities and neighbourhood improvement, such as the renovation of buildings in the area. “We want to ensure the technical and financial expertise to host and produce work of various artistic fields, such as plastic and visual arts, dance, theater, literature or photography.” In order to be supported, all artistic and academic projects have to be inspired on local heritage, history, people, or immigrant communities.
