This week is Refugee Focus Week at Pakhuis de Zwijger, Amsterdam. Every day, we are publishing articles that highlight different migration focused initiatives that fall in line with the evening in-house programs that also focus on this theme.
GSBTB is a platform and network that makes social engagement and neighbourhood work accessible to the large non-German speaking population of Berlin. GSBTB intends to inspire and mobilise new Berliners to donate some of their time and skills to a local initiative or social project.
GSBTB created a tool for community integration that brings together more “privileged” migrants, German locals and more vulnerable migrants such as refugees. The platform aims to make different migrants and their Berlin neighbours meet. Everyone has something to share with others regardless of their passport, status, language skills or how long they may have been in the country.
“Think global, act local”
What does GSBTB do…
…run an accessible online platform to inspire and mobilise Berlin’s migrant community to create social impact and foster integration.
…facilitate a diverse range of opportunities for social engagement and participation across Berlin.
…initiate our own innovative social projects established through co-creation with individuals from the migrant and refugee communities, NGOs and companies.
…organise events for newcomers to meet actors in their neighbourhoods and establish networks for intercultural understanding, solidarity and participation.
…do extensive online story-telling making newcomers and long-term residents aware of socio-political topics in Berlin, especially the migration and refugee discourse.
