The Swedes know their way around redevelopment. Färgfabriken, right on the Liljeholmsviken harbour in Stockholm, is a former paint factory transformed into an exhibition centre and platform for diverse activities in the fields of art, architecture and urban development. The foundation behind the centre organizes daily activities including classes, workshops and exhibitions, inspiring dialogue, allowing for new perspectives and conversations to unfold.
With twenty years of experience under their belt they have ambitions beyond the walls of the factory and even the Swedish border. The foundation develops both national and international projects through partnerships with social organisations, cultural institutions and universities, alongside their on-site program. Not shying away from an experimental approach, Färgfabriken creates projects exploring architecture and society, often collaborating with different parties in these fields.
The upcoming Experiment Stockholm exhibition examines and experiments with strategies and solutions addressing the challenges emerging in the rapidly growing Stockholm region. An interdisciplinary and interactive laboratory within an experimental environment, it challenges old paradigms and test new urban models through debates, exhibitions, seminars and other events. With Experiment Stockholm Färgfabriken raises questions of resilience, sustainability, and about the society we want to live in.
