Although for a number of reasons work and education are crucial for those who fled their country of origin, it’s still extremely difficult in the Netherlands to get started with a job or education. In the first place because they are not allowed to start work or education while they’re still not sure about the outcome of their procedure. Secondly because there are not enough customized educational programs for those who’s certificates aren’t valued in the same way as in their country of origin.
Together with a number of organizations and experts, we will explore the different possibilities of what we can achieve within the restrictions of the current policy. What are the most important challenges at this moment? And what are the next steps that need to be taken? Can we think of possible alternative networks that could help? Do we have to think about different ways of collaboration? And which changes are necessary to deliver more customized programs?
