The Landelijke Samenwerking Actieve Bewoners (National Collaboration of Active Citizens) is organising an event to inform active citizens about participatory budgeting and budget monitoring. Participatory budgeting is a democratic procedure for drawing up a budget in which citizens without a political mandate take part in the process of planning the budget.
Participatory budgetting is practiced in cities and towns worldwide, but is relatively new in The Netherlands. Through an interactive programme, the participants will learn more about participative budgetting and budget monitoring from experts from Antwerp, where this form of public participation has been adopted.
The event will be in Dutch and will take place in Antwerp.
