The New Urban Agenda underlines repeatedly the importance of enabling ‘full and meaningful participation’. This is even regarded as essential for a successful implementation of the New Urban Agenda. All urban actors are invited to actively participate in decision-making, planning, and follow-up processes. Concepts used in this perspective are referred to as co-creation, co-production and co-decision.
What is ‘meaningful participation’? How does it work in practice? What are inspiring examples? Policy-makers and city-makers will exchange concrete practices in various countries, in different regions in the world. To learn and to inspire. With the participation of Nicolaas Beets, the Dutch Urban Envoy responsible for the adoption of the Pact of Amsterdam, the European Commission, and, of course, city-makers from different countries. Moderation by Mart Grisel, Director of the European Urban Knowledge Network.
