European Volunteering Capital Competition 2019
Call for applications now open!
The European Volunteer Centre (CEV) is launching the sixth edition of the European Volunteer Capital competition. This competition aims to promote volunteering at a local level, by giving support, recognition, and fostering inspiration for volunteer initiatives in local municipalities. The goals are to strengthen the partnerships between municipalities and volunteer centres, volunteer-involving organisations and celebrate the impact made by volunteering. Are you the next EV Capital? The deadline for applications is 30th June 2017.
The European Volunteer Centre (Centre européen du volontariat, CEV) is an European network of over 70 national, regional and local volunteer centres and volunteer support agencies across Europe. Through their network, they work together to promote and support volunteering by means of advocacy, knowledge sharing and capacity building & training. In this way, they reach out to the thousands of volunteers and volunteer organisations who see volunteer centres as a source of support bringing the European dimension to their work.
The EV Capital is an Europe-wide open competition for all European Municipalities. The awarded municipality is chosen from the candidates by an international jury of key personalities connected with volunteering, representing civil society, the private, for-profit sector, as well as the EU institutions.
The award is chosen from the applicant municipalities by an international jury of experts who assess the extent to which the recommendations as listed in P.A.V.E. and the “5R” policy priorities as identified in the PAVE 5 year review Helping Hands, are shown to be implemented. How the European Solidarity Corps will be supported and promoted is also part of the criteria. Find the application form here.
The winning municipality will be announced on 1 or 2 December 2017, prior to the International Volunteer Day, at a ceremony hosted by CEV and the current #EVCapital, Sligo, Ireland. The title will be used in order to raise awareness about volunteering and volunteer-related activities at local, national, regional and EU level.
The winners from the former editions are: Aarhus 2018 European Volunteering Capital, Sligo 2017 European Volunteering Capital, London 2016 European Volunteering Capital, Lisbon 2015 European Volunteering Capital and Barcelona 2014 European Volunteering Capital.
